At the World Congress of Constitutional Law in Bogotá, taking place from 6 to 10 July 2026, the ICCAL Collaboration Lab on Democratic Resilience will make a significant contribution to one of the most important global gatherings in the field of constitutional law. The Lab will host eleven workshops and take part in a wide range of conference activities, bringing its comparative perspective on Europe and Latin America to discussions on the future of constitutional democracy. As the Congress gathers scholars, practitioners and institutional actors from across the world, the ICCAL Lab will contribute to this interdisciplinary exchange by engaging with the challenges, tensions and opportunities that shape constitutional law today. With more than 40 researchers working on democratic resilience, regional transformative constitutionalism and comparative public law, the Lab warmly invites the ICCAL network and all interested participants to join our events.

Among the Lab’s highlights at the Congress is the ICCAL Lab Lunch Talk “Innovations in legal comparison: inter-regional comparison for democratic resilience”, held on Tuesday, July 7^th from 13:00-14:00, where the Lab will present its methodology of interregional comparison to the audience at the congress.

Another key event is the discussion on a “Ius Commune in Europe and Latin America” taking place on Friday, July 10th from 9:00-10:30, where Professor Armin von Bogdandy will present alongside commentators Manuel José Cepeda and Elena Simina Tănăsescu, bringing together leading voices from both regions to reflect on the shared foundations and diverging trajectories of public law. Beyond these events, the Lab’s research groups will organize workshops spanning the full breadth of the Lab’s international research agenda, from judicial independence and digitalization to climate justice — offering Congress participants a window into the comparative and cross-regional work that defines the ICCAL Lab’s approach to democratic resilience.
