What is ICCAL?

The Ius Constitutionale Commune in Latin America Project (ICCAL after its Spanish name) is an academic project that has emerged in the Latin American context and that studies the promotion, respect and guarantee of human rights, democracy and the rule of law in the region.

ICCAL studies the common features of public law systems in Latin America and their particular interaction between international law and domestic law. It also examines the consolidation of a vibrant community of practice in the region and how the combination of these factors enables the emergence and development of a Ius Commune in Latin America relevant to international and comparative law.
